Meatballs with tomato sauce are a timeless, classic recipe. A great main course, but they are also a yummy dressing for pasta. There are many versions of this recipe but we are suggesting here a simple one, that isn’t spicy and ideal for everybody
Prep. Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
- 400 gr. minced beef
- 400 gr. tomato sauce
- 1 egg
- 60 gr. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 potato – boiled
- 1 Small onion
- Extra virgin olive oil 2 or 3 tablespoons
Boil the potato, peel and mash it, put it in a bowl, adding the meat, the egg, the Parmesan cheese, the finely chopped parsley, salt and pepper, mixing all together.
The mixture should have a certain consistency, without being too soft. If so, add some breadcrumbs. Form some walnut shaped balls and put them aside.
In a large pan, pour some olive oils, add the onion cut into thin slices, fry them till they are golden, then add the tomato sauce, salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes.
Add the meatballs.
Simmer over low flame for about twenty minutes. Serve hot.
