Five Spritz in Padua

Spritz represents an important ritual aperitif in Padua, the splendid city of “the three withouts”:- a Saint without a name; a bar without doors and a lawn without grass. The Paduan famous Spritz aperitif  is served in all the bars and cafes.

Splendida Piazza di Prato della Valle a Padova

In Padua while the aperitif is served without exception in all locations, the most characteristic places to search out for are – those that look onto Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Frutti – in the streets of the former Jewish Ghetto – in Piazza dei Signori and in Piazza Duomo.

When one says aperitif in the Veneto area it indicates specifically Spritz. It is a drink of modest alcohol content, a mix of white wine, sparkling water and Aperol served with ice and decorated with a slice of orange or lemon. The Aperol can be substituted with Campari.

A colourful, cheerful cocktail which can be presented in various interpretations.
